Hamley’s, the World’s Largest Toy Retailer, Opens Shop on Tmall
The world’s largest and oldest toy retailer, Hamley’s, has already become a fixture on Wangfujing shopping street in only a few short months since our soft opening visit. If you and your family still haven’t yet stopped by the world famous London shop with its iconic red and white “H” logo and five floors brimming with toys and hordes of shoppers, don’t fret.
Like most Beijingers, it’s likely you already buy nearly everything your family needs or wants on your phone anyway. And since online shopping has become the new normal, why not avoid braving notoriously crowded stores on the weekends altogether?
Luckily, Hamley’s has a newly launched Tmall store for all the charming, classic toys you’d want. Although the online selection we checked is fairly heavy on the stuffed animals, there are all sorts of other fun toy options available on the site, like colorful paint palettes that create rainbow effects (RMB 90), a cute wooden train set (RMB 191) as well as Hamley’s iconic London double-decker bus toy (RMB 82). Personally, the colorful tubs of modeling clay (RMB 46) and the Sprayza airbrush pen set (RMB 180) made us want to sit on a coffee table covered in newspaper and construction paper and just play.
Currently, there are a few special deals and discounts available as part of Tmall’s back to school special (开学爆到), so now might be a great time to stock up on birthday gifts, plush toys, or otherwise. Happy shopping!
